Aberdeenshire Health and Social Care Partnership Awarded Gold Level Two Digital Telecare Implementation Award
Digital Telecare for Scottish Local Government are delighted to confirm that Aberdeenshire Health and Social Care Partnership has been awarded the Gold Two Digital Telecare Implementation Award in recognition of the recent progress of their analogue to digital telecare transition project.
To achieve the Gold Level Two Implementation Award, a Telecare Service Provider must have successfully rolled out a live digital telecare service to 50% of service users and is operating successfully without serious issues or call failures for at least 6 weeks.
The Aberdeenshire HSCP Telecare service, part of the Joint Equipment Service, supports approximately 2,300 dispersed community alarms across Aberdeenshire—a vast and diverse region spanning 2,437 square miles. Despite the challenges posed by remote areas and limited connectivity, the service continues to make strong progress. Referrals are welcomed from healthcare professionals or via self-referral through the Aberdeenshire Council website.
Following the departure of Euan Stratton and Roddy MacLean, Andrew Priest has stepped in to lead, building on the solid foundation they established with valued support from the Digital Office. This partnership has been instrumental in navigating technical complexities, particularly around the Shared ARC implementation and migration of digital units. The Digital Office remains actively involved, attending supplier meetings, driving accountability, and providing timely updates. The Aberdeenshire HSCP Telecare team is on track to complete the upgrade of analogue units by 31st October, with ongoing efforts to address connectivity challenges. While IP-based solutions are still under testing, the team remains committed to finding effective alternatives and ensuring service continuity.
We extend our wholehearted congratulations to Aberdeenshire Health and Social Care Partnership and look forward to continuing to work with them as they progress towards the Platinum Digital Telecare Implementation Award.
