The Analogue Telephony Switch Off October Update 2020 is now available on the Digital Telecare Playbook and details stop sell dates for various locations across Scotland.
Openreach is releasing details of telephone exchanges where a date has been set after which analogue services will no longer be available for sale. An initial list of 118 telephone exchanges (including 12 in Scotland) was released in May 2020, a further 51 exchange areas (including 5 in Scotland) were announced in October 2020. They have provided a 12 month “stop sell” announcement for analogue telephone services at these exchanges. This means that after this stop sell date, it will not be possible for customers in these exchange areas to have new analogue telephone lines installed.
It is important to note that this date relates to the installation of new analogue telephone lines and existing analogue phone lines in these exchange areas will continue to operate after the stop sell date.
