Comhairle nan Eilean Siar Awarded Gold Level Two Digital Telecare Implementation Award
Digital Telecare for Scottish Local Government are delighted to confirm that Comhairle nan Eilean Siar has been awarded the Gold Level Two Digital Telecare Implementation Award in recognition of the recent progress of their analogue to digital telecare transition project.
To achieve the Gold Level Two Implementation Award, a Telecare Service Provider is required to implement a live digital telecare service for at least 50% of service users and maintain operation without major issues or call failures for a minimum period of six weeks.
Comhairle nan Eilean Siar Telecare Service currently supports over 1000 people across the Western Isles. The service plays a crucial role in helping people live independently and safely at home, offering support and an emergency response 24 hours each day.
The Gold Level 2 Award recognises the successful transition of the service to the Shared Digital Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC) Platform, with digital telecare now serving more than half of all users.
Comhairle nan Eilean Siar was the first HSCP to adopt the Shared ARC solution and this achievement was made possible through a strong partnership with the Digital Office who have provided support and assurance throughout the transition.
The service is now working towards full digital transition by January 2026. This next phase will focus on completing the device replacement programme to the remaining service users.
This work will support the Partnership’s ambition to reach the Platinum Implementation Award, while continuing to strengthen the resilience and responsiveness of telecare services for Western Isles residents.
We extend our wholehearted congratulations to Comhairle nan Eilean Siar and look forward to continuing to work with them as they progress towards the Platinum Digital Telecare Implementation Award.
