North Ayrshire Health and Social Care Partnership Awarded Silver Digital Telecare Implementation Award

Award. Digital Telecare. 02.10.2025

Digital Telecare for Scottish Local Government are delighted to confirm that North Ayrshire Health and Social Care Partnership has been awarded the Silver Digital Telecare Implementation Award in recognition of the recent progress of their analogue to digital telecare transition project.

To achieve the Silver Implementation Award, a Telecare Service Provider must have successfully completed penetration testing and internal acceptance testing. This is one of the most challenging stages of the transition and frequently uncovers technical challenges which have to be overcome before further progress can be made.

North Ayrshire Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP) supports approximately 3,700 community alarm dispersed service users through a dedicated response team of 70 staff. This team provides coverage across all four areas of the Local Authority area, including the islands of Arran and Cumbrae. The Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC) partner, Hanover Scotland, works in close collaboration with the response team to ensure service users receive timely visits. Currently, 92% of service users have a digital-ready alarm, with 400 connected digitally to Hanover via SIM cards and, where feasible, broadband.

Preparation for the transition from analogue to digital began in 2022, with completion targeted for summer 2026. Throughout this journey, the team has benefited from strong support from the A2D project board and has worked closely with the Digital Office, Hanover, and Tunstall to ensure alarm configurations are as reliable as possible.

The project has faced a number of challenges along the way, with the most significant being Hanover’s move to the Appello digital platform. Despite this, the team successfully navigated the difficulties and has now achieved the Silver Award.

In order to achieve the Gold One Implementation Award, the team at North Ayrshire HSCP will continue their current approach, focusing on increasing digital connectivity among service users and building on the progress they've already made. With momentum on their side, they’re hopeful the award will be within reach soon.
