North Ayrshire HSCP Awarded Gold 2 Digital Telecare Implementation Award

Award. Digital Telecare. 31.07.2026

Digital Telecare for Scottish Local Government are delighted to confirm that North Ayrshire Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP) has been awarded the Gold Two Digital Telecare Implementation Award in recognition of the recent progress of their analogue to digital telecare transition project.

To achieve the Gold Level Two Implementation Award, a Telecare Service Provider must have successfully rolled out a live digital telecare service to 50% of service users and is operating successfully without serious issues or call failures for at least 6 weeks.

North Ayrshire HSCP support 3,700 dispersed community alarm service users, with a dedicated response team of 70 staff covering four locality areas, as well as the islands of Arran and Cumbrae. Their Alarm Receiving Centre partner, Hanover Scotland, work closely with their response team to ensure that service users receive a timely visit when required. Currently, 92% of service users have a digital-ready alarm, with over 2,100 already connected to Hanover using digital connectivity via SIM and/or Broadband through Ethernet and Wi-Fi.

North Ayrshire HSCP began preparing for the Analogue to Digital (A2D) transition in 2022 and is on track to complete the programme by Autumn 2026. Along their journey, they have benefited from the strong support of their A2D project board and have worked in close partnership with the Digital Office, as well as Hanover, and Tunstall, to ensure the alarms were configured for maximum reliability. One of their greatest challenges in achieving the Gold 2 Award was with Hanover’s transition to the Appello digital platform in summer 2025. After some initial issues were quickly identified and resolved, the system is now operating effectively.

North Ayrshire HSCP’s next step towards achieving the Platinum Implementation Award is to maintain momentum and continue delivering at a consistently high standard.

Kevin Queenan, North Ayrshire HSCP’s Technology Enabled Care Lead, says “We’re delighted to have achieved our Gold 2 Award. Our technicians are highly knowledgeable and a pleasure to work with, and our partners and project board have provided fantastic support throughout, helping to keep us on the right path.”

Darren Johnstone, North Ayrshire HSCP’s Digital Technician says “We love what we do. It’s great to learn about new technologies, and it’s incredibly rewarding to know that we’re helping to keep our service users safe.”

We extend our wholehearted congratulations to North Ayrshire Health and Social Care Partnership and look forward to continuing to work with them as they progress towards the Platinum Digital Telecare Implementation Award.
