University Health & Social Care North Lanarkshire Awarded Bronze Digital Telecare Implementation Award
We are delighted to confirm that University Health & Social Care North Lanarkshire (UHSCNL) has been awarded the Bronze Digital Telecare Implementation Award in recognition of the progress they have made on their analogue to digital telecare transition project.
To achieve Bronze status through Route 2, a Telecare Service Provider must have successfully deployed digital-ready alarm devices to at least 50% of all dispersed and group alarm users. This is the first major milestone in the transition to digital telecare and sets the foundations upon which the rest of the digital telecare transition will rest.
University Health & Social Care North Lanarkshire (UHSCNL) is a partnership between NHS Lanarkshire and North Lanarkshire Council, committed to improving the health and wellbeing of North Lanarkshire's population of more than 340,000 people. Its core mission is to support people to lead independent, fulfilling, and healthier lives by working closely with communities, carers, and partner organisations.
The partnership is responsible for delivering community-based health and social care services. These include health visiting and breastfeeding support, home support and care at home for older adults and those with complex needs, and carer support services to ensure carers are recognised, supported, and involved in shaping services.
UHSCNL have approximately 7,600 telecare users in their local community and their new digital alarms are now in place in more than 50% of households using the service. UHSCNL welcomes this award as it emphasises their commitment to making the best use of digital telecare to promote service user independence.
UHSCNL is looking to extend this rollout even further to ensure all telecare users are able to access our community alarm service. The advice and guidance from the Digital Office have been invaluable. Being able to learn from the knowledge base the Digital Office has accumulated from similar partnerships across Scotland has been essential to our progress so far.
Claire Rae, Chief Officer, University Health & Social Care North Lanarkshire, said: "This award recognises our successful transition from analogue to digital telecare services, a key milestone in future-proofing support for some of the most vulnerable people in our communities.
“Digital telecare is a vital service that enables people to live safely and independently at home for longer. This move includes upgrading systems, training staff, and ensuring residents continue to receive reliable, responsive support around the clock.
“Moving to digital telecare is not just about technology, it’s about improving lives and ensuring our health and social care services remain person-centred and accessible.”
We extend our wholehearted congratulations to UHSCNL partnership team and look forward to continuing to work with them as they progress towards the Silver Digital Telecare Implementation Award.
