Case Study: Aberdeen's first purpose-built complex care accommodation has opened in Stoneywood.

Case Study. Digital Telecare. 28.08.2025

Aberdeen’s first purpose-built complex care accommodation has opened in Stoneywood.

The £4.5million Stoneywood Road development will deliver specialist accommodation for eight people, offering care around the clock to some of the city’s most vulnerable people, and will welcome its first residents this month.

The new accommodation is enabling people who have up to now been cared for in hospitals and facilities outwith Aberdeen to be looked after in their home city. Their new homes meet the needs of people with the most complex of needs, and the building, environment and support model have all been designed specifically with them in mind.

We worked with Aberdeen to showcase how they considered Technology Enabled Care (TEC) from the project initiation through to how they will evaluate the benefits of TEC. The Stoneywood Development in Aberdeen represents a significant achievement for Aberdeen City Health and Social Care Partnership (ACHSCP). The design of the Stoneywood Development and TEC service will enhance the quality of care, support, and ensure the safety and well-being of both residents and staff.

ACHSCP is committed to evaluating the impact of this TEC on residents’ lives. A robust and comprehensive 12-month evaluation will be completed to evidence this.

We will be working closely with ACHSCP throughout this journey, supporting them with benefits realisation, and sharing updates on this project to Telecare Service Providers across Scotland.
