East Lothian Health and Social Care Partnership Awarded Bronze Digital Telecare Implementation Award

Award. Digital Telecare. 30.04.2024

Digital Telecare for Scottish Local Government are delighted to confirm that East Lothian Health and Social Care Partnership has been awarded the Bronze Digital Telecare Implementation Award in recognition of the progress they have made on their analogue to digital telecare transition project.

To achieve Bronze status through Route 2, a telecare service provider must have successfully deployed digital-ready alarm devices to at least 50% of all dispersed and group alarm users. This is the first major milestone in the transition to digital telecare and sets the foundations upon which the rest of the digital telecare transition will rest.

There are around 2,100 community alarm systems across East Lothian which need to be upgraded to digital in time for the analogue telephone system being switched off in the UK in 2025, so it’s a great achievement that the team have installed over 50% of these.

East Lothian were one of the pilot sites to trial digital ready alarms, this resulted in them deciding to go with 3 different suppliers and has helped them to ensure smooth transition for clients when changing to digitally enabled alarms. There have been some challenges along the way, including reliability of alarms, signal issues, and the challenge for the team to get up to speed with new technologies, but all through this the team have kept their positive attitude and strived to do what is best for their clients.

Lesley Berry, Chief AHP and General Manager, said: “It is a great achievement for the team to have reached this milestone. It is reassuring to know that we are well on the way to ensuring that we will have all our clients moved over to digitally enabled alarms in advance of the 2025 deadline. Thank you so much to the team for continuing to work hard and enable this to happen”.

We extend our wholehearted congratulations to East Lothian Health and Social Care Partnership and look forward to continuing to work with them as they progress towards the Silver Digital Telecare Implementation Award.
