Fife Health and Social Care Partnership Awarded Gold Level One Digital Telecare Implementation Award

Award. Digital Telecare. 19.02.2025

We are delighted to confirm that Fife Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP) have been awarded the Gold Level One Digital Telecare Implementation Award in recognition of the progress they have made on their analogue to digital telecare transition project.

To achieve Gold Level One status, a Telecare Service Provider must have implemented a fully operational digital alarm receiving centre solution as well as rolling out a live digital telecare service to at least 20% of service users. This is the third major milestone in the analogue to digital transition and lays the foundation for the future of digital telecare.

Fife HSCP is an integrated care system, working in partnership with NHS Fife, Fife Council, independent care organisations, and voluntary organisations. Their mission is to improve the health and wellbeing of people living in Fife.

Fife HSCP currently have 7,192 community alarm users and cover 66 sheltered housing complexes throughout the region. They offer their services in-house, from mobile assistants and mobile emergency carers, to community alarm operators. As part of their analogue to digital telecare transition project, Fife was the first local authority area to go live with a digital Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC) in Scotland. They aim to transition all of their community alarm service users to digital and offer a fully digital service by December 2025.

Lisa Nisbet, Mobile Assistant, Fife Health and Social Care Partnership, said: "Any change to equipment or work practices comes with new challenges. I feel if it wasn't for the commitment and dedication of the team, the transition wouldn't have been as smooth as it was. Everyone in the team comes together to help when there are difficulties with new equipment, sharing their knowledge and skills. I haven't been in the team that long, but I have learnt so much from everyone. I am committed to learning and developing my own skills with the continued support from the team."

The Digital Office Digital Telecare Programme has provided essential support to Fife HSCP during their transition from analogue to digital systems. Notably, the programme has enabled networking with other local authority regions that have implemented digital ARCs, leading to valuable shared learning and collaborative problem-solving.

Cara Jamieson, Telecare Supervisor, Fife Health and Social Care Partnership said: "I feel this is such a great achievement for the team. They have worked very hard over such a momentous change for our service, going digital was and has been such a huge learning opportunity for myself and the whole team. We have had obstacles along the way and adapted very well. To be given this award definitely reflects on the hard work of every single person working to go digital within our service and makes me feel immensely proud of the team we have here."

Achieving this Award is a significant achievement and robustly demonstrates the overall functionality and effectiveness of their digital telecare solution. We extend our wholehearted congratulations to Fife HSCP and look forward to continuing to work with them as they progress towards the Gold Level Two Digital Telecare Implementation Award.
